Ramone “K” Anderson is an interdisciplinary artist with an ethos grounded in the intelligibility of commercial design and illustration. Raised in the digital slums of early 2000s deviantArt forums and UK grime culture, his practice still finds its roots in his time spent as a youth creating comics within online communities and branding identities for local musicians.

Core themes within his work are the conflicts that arise in the intersectionality of race and faith based identities and how this impacts communal participation and belonging as it relates to culture. Recent work Dancing With My Father (2024), a multimedia project that includes painting, performance and film, examines worship dance as an act of prayer and communion with God as Father and what happens when that relationship deteriorates when abused by religious authority. The project birthed the song WTT (2024) where he also directed the music video, which combines film, textual design and printmaking and animation.

His practice includes painting, printmaking, design, film, music, writing and art direction. The different mediums that he works in are often interweaving, threading and looping back on one another into a holistic expression that ties the creation back to the vision of a singular author. As a synesthete, the colors seen in relationship to audio become expressions of his interior landscape using lights and projectors in the music video for WTT (2024), which also inform the fluorescent color palette in paintings such as I Was Never The Victim (2024).

His present painting practice aims to deconstruct the value systems around the objectification of painting and their politics of ownership and the lack of equity that translates into the digital medium. This has been carried out through a series of creative experiments investigating the materiality of the digital medium using acetate and acrylic as a representation of the ‘layers’ system intrinsic to the digital medium and digital creative process. This is evidenced in pieces Foliage (2024) and Dreams That I Was Flyin (2024) and book "TAG: UR IT" (2024).

His aim as a practitioner is to create art as a means for carving out space for honest discourse to take place within the communities he occupies and beyond.
